I met Snickers, Dick and Joanne at the Mill Brook Road PA at 8:45, where we all donned 'metal', just to walk in the parking lot. Joanne started with snow shoes, and the rest of wore micro/stabilicers. But we soon switched to snow shoes, as the drifts that blow in the old road started getting larger and larger. They varied from little to at least 3 feet. Fortunately, we pretty much kept on top, but we did punch thru a few times to the running water flowing down the trail.

The weather was very spring like. It was sunny and only a tiny hint of breeze. It quickly warmed from 35 into the low 50 by the time we were at the top. On the last few hills, the drifts were quite large! Joanne will share a few pics, I'm sure.

I opened the cabin and the tower and gave my friends the grand tour. Joanne was a little hesitant to come up the tower, but at least her camera made it to the top! :D We had great views to the East, but the other directions were beginning to show signs of the impending weather. 2 other hikers showed up from the Beaver Kill side as we were leaving, and we bumped into Peggy W. and a friend at the junction. Nice to see you again! :)

The walk back was easy, and Cindy showed off her compass skills! :D

We finished at Keegan Ales, where we all enjoyed a well earned Views-and-Brew! :D

We lucked out on the weather with overcast skies only on the way down. This was a great "first hike back" for Dick. Thanks, Tom, for helping me up to the fifth landing of the tower. I can climb high rock cliffs with no particular attention to altitude, but when it comes to towers I am very uncomfortable. Go figure !

Nice pics Joanne! I appreciate the privy rating, we work hard on avoiding a crappy crapper!

I think the snow drift picture came out quite well, BTW! :D
