Seeing as it was going to be a really nice weekend...we had originally planned to spend Saturday trying Logan on his first hike...Ragged mountain. Sunday would be for us and would include several "peaks" in Acadia. However...this was not to be.

PART I: Logan tries his hiking legs

The plan, get up at 6:00 am so that we could hit Ragged early...and get to the summit. As we had kids with us...and a "virgin" trail puppy, we figured it would take us quite some time to get the 1.8 miles up. We had to be home by 1:00...we made it only about 1.4 miles up...but we had a GREAT time...and trail puppy...did wonderful.

"Where's that mountain?"

Part II: Acadia big hike...nope...short hike on Saddleback.

By the end of Saturday, both hubby and I were feeling a little under the weather. Never-the-less...we got up at 3:00 am for a long day of hiking in Acadia. Off we go...time for breakfast at DND...WHAT, my card's declined (the bank's system was down...honest, it wasn't me ). Sigh...no cash...no option for paying for breakfast or gas...or supper for that matter. Back home we go...and, back to bed. We talked on our way back home that we would just take a day off and play cribbage and talk about our vacation...and where we would go for an overnight. We had a good sleep and got back up at 10:00 am (yikes is that late). As we sit and talk about Saddleback...and wish we could just head there to see what the trail would be like (could we do an overnight here? Catch the elusive horn and sleep at the campground?)...hey, it's only noon...let's just take a quickie (ok...2 hr drive) hike to Piazza Rock Campground and maybe meet someone who can tell us what the trail is like? YEA!!! hiking after all.

Still snow on the trail. According to two hikers we met on our way up...waist DEEP snow above the campground...

Ok...never mind Saddleback...too much snow to deal with anymore. Let's go play on Piazza rock

So...despite not hitting a single peak...and only taking two short hikes (less than 4 hours each), it was a great weekend to be on the trail. Trail puppy got his paws wet (literally and figuratively)...and we have a great two-night acadia trip planned...with NO SNOWSHOES necessary. :D

OMG! Trail Puppy is sooooo cute!!!! Do you know if he gets along with other dogs yet? (trolling for puppy play date :p) He looks like he was having a grand time, and was equally enjoying that nap at the end!!

GREAT pictures from your Saddleback hike -- the cascade was gorgeous!

Actually, he does wonderful with other dogs and people. We met a few other hikers that day...one set with their own "trail puppy"...he was much more unmanagable then Logan was (he he he). Logan sat (by command) and sniffed and wagged. He WANTED to jump and be more excited...but, the firm hold on the collar kept him calmer.

Wonderful puppy pictures!

What is with that rolling on the ground in the smells thing that dogs do? Tuckerman does the same thing. It's so weird.

Great pictures Imzadi, sounds like a fantastic weekend. I, too, had a weekend of "non-hiking" but would rather not share my photos of my bathroom remodel with all of you. :D

Well...you are younger and more adventerous then we are...who knows ;)

How about Acadia next Wed, Thurs, or Friday? We'll be there for all three days!! YIPPIE! (now, watch it rain all three days)
