I also recall reading a recent trail report claiming that there was giant hogweed growing on the side of a WMNF shelter--I think it was Rocky Branch #1 or #2. I think the report was on the AMC BBS (http://appalachia.outdoors.org/bbs/) but I can't find it now.

Interesting video esp where it shows the girls skin reaction to it on her leg.

Thanks for the info, at first I thought it just looked like Cow Parsnip or giant Angelica which I have seen before, which in a way looks like oversized poison hemlock. All part of the carrot family if I have my info correct.

Guess this is a new version to add to the list.
I'll certainly keep a watch out for Hogweed before I go wandering through a patch of it.

Is it correct that Cow Parsnip has the same nasty properties? I seem to remember it being mentioned as an invasive a few years ago. They look pretty much the same to me....
