Trail Conditions: Valley way still has lots of ice from Upper Bruin junction to Hut. Airline to Upper Bruin in very good shape, Valley Way quite wet in spots with a few sections of running water in the trail in the upper sections.

Special Equipment Required: Microspikes were handy on Valley Way upper section

Comments: Optional - Very windy day up high, Plan was Airline up to Madison, when we broke treeline, the winds were howling making it diifcult to walk due to gusts, we dropped down via Upper Bruin to Valley Way and tried to find a spot out of the wind at Madison hut with little success. The winds were unusual, even the upper section of Valley Way had wwinds blowing northernly down the trail. We were considering taking Star Lake trail up Adams, but even walking over to Star lake, the winds were sufficient to make walking difficult. We did run into a few folks who had baved the summits but no on in our group needed the peaks so we just checked out the great views and headed down valley way. I did note some small purple alpine flowers were out near star lake.

One thing I did note is that the new well at Madison is overflowing out a weep hole on the side of the well casing, I would expect that considering its coming out of the well casing that it would ba good source of water that didnt need treatment. Given the potential winter camping use in the area, I wouldnt suggest that the actual stream leaving Madison Hut area would be a pure.
