Date of Hike: 4 August 2012
Specific Route: Link and Amphibrach, King Ravine Tr (Subway and Ice Caves Loops), Gulfside Tr, Lowes Path, Spur Tr, Amphibrach and Link
Trail Conditions: Trails were all in good shape. The few crossings were no issue. No blowdowns along route. Trails are dry. Only issues were with signs tampered with by misguided trail users. The Great Gully trail sign on the King Ravine Tr warns in black sharpie, "hard and steep" or something like that with a scared face as well. Maybe bring a sketch pad next time. Also, trail sign in King Ravine before the Subway has "Rt 2" and an arrow dug out with something sharp....in case someone thought rt 2 was up.
Special Equipment Required: Sunscreen/sun protection and extra water were both nice to have.
Comments: Very nice day out with Pixie for a classic King Ravine hike - it was hot but the woods were cool enough, we had some breeze above treeline and some cold streams to splash on our faces. We saw a few others along the route but not as many on Adams as I expected. Took a nice break on the summit nearly dozing to the view into Great Gulf. There is still a little ice in the ravine.
