Trai conditions: The lower parts of Lowe's Path were wet and muddy, especially on Sunday. Icy mix from the steep section below the Log Cabin to Gray Knob. Bare rock from Gray Knob to the summit except for the snowfield between Adams 4 and Adams. Firm, easy trail-rail from Gray Knob to Crag Camp.

Equipment needed: Crampons essential for the icy section especially on the descent. Leave your snowshoes at home.

Comments: The weather was cloudy with occassional mist and temps around 40* the whole time. We were surprised to see no one on the trails and only 4 hikers at Gray Knob. We had Crag Camp to ourselves. The spring between Gray Knob and Crag Camp was flowing well and easy to access. The views into King Ravine were terrific with the clouds and undercast moving in and out. The tricky part was coming down the steep section of Lowe's Path on a mix of hard ice, rock and trail-rail. Crampons were essential and the easiest part was the trail-rail.
