Hi all...new to this forum and very excited to be here...

Hubby and I are going to Adams Monday (2-9) overnight to Tuesday (2-10). Staying at Gray Knob.

How is Lowe's path? up to the cabin...and to the summit from the cabin?

My wife and I (and the dog) used Lowes Path to hike Adams 2 weeks ago, 1/23/09. It was well broken out at that time and we saw 5 people headed to the camp. They have gotten a lot of snow since then but not much in the past week and no big storms predicted before your trip so I would guess that it will be well broken out. I would expect that the camp will see visitors this weekend. As for above the camp (above treeline) when we were there we had a lot of hardpack with rocks and places of large drifts, you'll probably encounter similar. Also when we were there, very thick clouds came in while we were on the summit and finding the trail back was difficult, could not see from one cairn to the next and most prints in the drifts were completely filled back in with blowing snow. Hope this helps.

I stayed at Gray Knob last night. Lowes Path is hard packed from Rt 2 to the summit. I carried crampons and snowshoes but bare-booted the whole hike.
