Friday 7/2 - leave from Richmond, VT, across Lake Champlain by ferry, then drive to St Huberts. Backpack to tent site near Indian Head. Set up camp. Day hike Nippletop, Dial, Colvin, Blake.

Saturday 7/3 - Sawteeth (scenic trail), Gothics, Armstrong, Upper Wolf Jaw, Lower Wolf Jaw. Back to Indian Head tent site.

Sunday 7/4 - Back out to St Huberts. Big breakfast. Cold beers. Day hike Cascade and Porter. More cold beers on summit. Hike down. Swim. Eat. Drive home.

Thanks to Tim for your company on this strenuous but very rewarding weekend! Eleven more 46ers in the bag.

Nice running into Dianne and Paul B at Beaver Meadow Falls.

Photos to be posted soon, including lots of Great Range panoramics.

Happy Independence Day!

How did you like the "Scenic" Trail?? :p Not one of my favorites.

Congrats on bagging so many peaks!

Thanks!

I didn't think the Scenic Trail was too bad. Nice outlooks down to the lake.

Of everything that we did last weekend, the col between Colvin and Blake was my least favorite. We encountered plentiful mud everywhere we went, and some trails are badly eroded.

We were also there on Friday. I have one word for the southern side of Colvin -- ladders!!

Really? Handjam Crack was one of my favorite parts of the Colvin/Blake trip.

Diff'rent strokes, I guess... :)

It's not during the shoulder seasons when it is filled with ice and the rock around has a nice glaze. That spot used to be pretty narrow. It is constanty widening as people grab the vegetation around it to get up and down. Big problem to that (besides obvious) is that there is a nice stiff drop off just to the right (as you descend).

Blake kinda sucks in the summer (in comparison to others) but in winter it's fantastic. All those chutes and scrambles turn in to one long luge run and the blowdown field facing the Great range becomes a nice viewing platform.

Y'know...I had not considered the "trail widening" issue there.

Thanks for pointing it out.
