ADK Alpine Day - suggestions?

I'm taking my son to the 'Daks this weekend with the intent of a long-ish day above tree line. I'm leaning towards Wright, Algonquin & Iroquois then down to lake Colden and back to Loj.

Any alternative suggestions that will give us plenty of time above tree line?

The only other "long, above treeline day" that comes to mind would be Skylight and Marcy from the Loj- ascend via Lake Arnold/Feldspar Brook to 4 Corners, summit Skylight, return to 4 Corners, summit Marcy, descend back to the Loj via the VanHoevenberg trail.

Definitely bring your microspikes- there's been ice on the summits already this year.

Rather than return via Lake Colden I greatly prefer going back over Algonquin.

However, because Avalanche Pass and Lake are pretty special, you might want to do them first and go up the trail to the Alg-Iro col. It's a very rugged trail (basically a pile of boulders for the most part) and ascending it is a lot easier than descending.
