Date of Hike:
Trail Conditions: a steep, unrelenting climb from Lake Colden to the Boundary/Algonquin Col, with some mud and slippery spots. From there over Algonquin to Wright and back was not bad at all. We were on the lookout for hornets after reading a prior post, but we did not have any problems or get stung. The trail over Boundary to Iroquois is somewhat overgrown and very muddy in spots.
Special Equipment Required: gore tex boots and gaiters essential, poles very helpful.
Comments: Day two of a four night, five day peakbagging/backpacking trip by the Maine Outdoor Adventure Club to the spectacular Adirondacks. Views were unsurpassed, and the wind was howlin', almost enough to knock us over, but temps were fairly mild. Thank you to Norm, Tim, Virginia, Mary Ann, Kathy, and Pat for their company on this hike. Photos www.pbase.com/jonathantr - more to be posted soon.
