Launched from the Atlantic Kayak Tours place on Annsville Creek in the little city known as Peekskill today for a section paddle of the Hudson as I needed to paddle the section between World's End by West Point and Annsville Creek. We launched around 8:20 off those rubber barge thingys and passing some fisherman crabbing by the metro-north tracks, we leave the protected cove into a big foggy river, where one could not see Indian Point. We headed north, to opening views of the Bear Mtn Bridge and a clearing but hot day on the hudson. Passing Con Hook and a bunch of other marked landmarks and a couple of 5 mile freight trains up the west side we make our way to West Point. A short stop at the Garrison marina for some kind of craft fair, we talk to a couple of the merchants, including a photographer working on his W46.
I take a few shots on the way back, now that it has cleared up, lots of events going on the hudson, a bunch of boats and jetskis are out, but a pretty calm, day, I go explore Popolopen gorge but can't get far because of low tide, so I wander a bit and check out Iona island from the water before going back to the launch...
