My daughters and I climbed Allen on Saturday, Oct 1, a 13 hour affair. If you go, understand that you will have to wade across two rivers and one flooded causeway over Lake Jimmy. I suggest that you not put on your boots until after you have crossed the Hudson (upstream from the collapsed bridge) and then waded across Lake Jimmy. Carry water-shoes. Also, do try to climb on a day the exposed slides on Allen are likely to be dry. The climbing on Saturday was extremely slippery as water is still running off the saturated mountain and likely will remain wet and dangerous until the wet weather stops and the sun comes out for an extended period.
