Alpine Gardens

When is the best time to catch the Alpine Gardens in bloom? Give or take a few days.

The AMC had three alpine garden workshops (subtitled "the mountain in bloom") scheduled for June 14, 21, 28. They've now canceled the June 14 workshop and added one on June 23. Whether that was for lack of enrollment or some other reason or because spring is late I don't know, but I'd guess the latter. May was unusually cold here, and breeding and blooming is delayed. I'd shoot for the 3rd to 4th week in June.

Probably next two weekends. (or weekdays between if you want the place to yourself and/or want to pick a day with good weather) Today was a bit early. See my brief trip report in the spring flowers thread.

edit: AMC is probably waiting for mountain avens (Geum peckii) to be in bloom, it shows up a little later.
