Fri.-Sun., Feb.1-3. Backcountry Ski Workshop at Cardigan Lodge
This weekend workshop covers techniques and skills needed for skiing local parks or ungroomed mountain slopes. Outdoor instruction includes ski basics and drills on our large practice hill from diagonal stride to telemark turns, including techniques for climbing, turning, and stopping; also tours with instructors on the ski trails around AMC's Cardigan Lodge to practice techniques. Indoor discussions include ski equipment, proper clothing, cold weather safety, and general knowledge for skiing safely in the backcountry. Participants must have prior experience on XC or downhill skis. Cost $168 members, $191 non-members, includes meals and lodging.
