Here is the announcement for the AMC Boston Chapter's annual Winter Hiking Program:
Nov. 10, 17, 24 Dec. 1, 8. Come join us and learn introductory basics to winter backcountry and mountain day hiking and camping in New England. 5 evening sessions (7-9:30 p.m.). Lectures and small group Q&A with Boston Chapter leaders as well as hands-on opportunities with equipment. Topics incl. heat management and clothing, group hiking techniques, energy management and nutrition, winter travel and snowshoes, physical conditioning, winter safety and injury prevention, above treeline hiking, non-technical use of ice ax and crampons, weather, camping techniques, equipment, & food prep. As an adjunct to the program, the annual Cardigan winter hiking weekend workshop, for which there is an additional charge, will be offered. $45 memb./$50 nonmemb. in adv.; $50 memb./$55 non-memb. at door. I will be giving a talk on safety, mainly derived from my experience with the Accident Reports., and also leading one of the hikes associated with the program.

Let me STRONGLY (am I clear :D) suggest that you preregister, not only to save the five bucks but because on site registration gets quite hectic.
