Ascent of Washington via Ammonoosuc Ravine, Crawford Path, Gulfside & Jewell Trails.

Date of Hike: 2-19-08

Trail Conditions: Ammo rock hard with intact snowbridges, crust with frost feathers above treeline all barebootable, water ice on much of the Gulfside, Jewell windblown and rocky/icy above the scrub line, postholeable from there down

Special Equipment Required: From Gem Pool to summit & down to scrub on Jewell crampons desirable. On Gulfside they are mandatory. Snowshoes needed from scrubline down on Jewell.

Comments: Again, crampons absolutely necessary on the Gulfside as it skirts the edge of the Great Gulf. One member of the party found this out to his displeasure and nearly demise.
