From: Notch Road trailhead parking
Route: Bellows Pipe to AT South to summit to AT Northbound to Bernards Farm trail
length: About 9.5 milesish
The bridges on the bellows pipe trail seems to be a mishmash of leftover planking and haphazardly put together. Some of them have large gaps perpendicular to the trail (which is open to Mt Bikes) so those with small feet might require careful placement).
The nettles have started to die off and recede along the upper reaches of the BP trail and the trail up past the leanto is in fine shape.
There was some trailwork going on the AT north of the BP/AT junction as a bunch of folks were putting new bog bridges in and the Bernards Farm trail is steep and narrow in places, which leads me to think it's not as used as much as the eastern or even western approaches to greylock. The plane wreck is still there...
I took to the road a bit too soon and wound up walking the road down til I found the right crossing so those going down the Bernards Farm trail, ignore the first road meeting and continue down the same side of the road. The real crossing has a crosswalk in it and is signed to warm drivers to slow down...
Back to an almost empty lot on saturday to complete the hike...
