Fortunately there is at least one peak in Franconia Notch with stunning views that I can all but guarantee you will have to yourself regardless of the day or the season. It's not the best place for heels, though.
Artists Bluff is great short hike and is good if you're bringing kids or someone that doesn't want a long strenuous 4,000 foot hike!!! It's so sad that the people that re going up ae so disrespectful and leave garbage behind. Is parking for Artists Bluff across the street from Cannon? In the scores of time I've climbed Lafayette and Lincoln, I've never climbed Artist Bluff.

"Jace Wirth, the general manager at Franconia Notch State Park and Cannon Mountain, told the Globe the state park is considering charging a parking fee or selling timed-entry tickets in an effort to control the crowds."
He really is a piece of work. I will not miss him. I actually ran into him once when I was walking my dog by Saint Anselm's political center, almost bumped right into him, not so much as a hello with direct eye contact. There was nothing in it for him.Yup, Nh Rolls on tourism. This is same gov who criticized the state water resources board two months ago for posting warnings about high levels of ecoli and cyanobacteria at popular beaches and lakes.
