Great autumn day in the woods. Gentle climb up Wyman Mtn, steep down from Hall Mtn to Sawyer Notch, even steeper climb to Moody Mtn, and descent to Black Brook and South Arm Rd. All trails are in good shape - a few steppable-over blow-downs. Shallow mud under leaf-fall makes unexpected glissading possible in places. Too much wind in Sawyer Notch meant that the echos from an outlook on Moody Mtn weren't working today.
There is a landslide on the southwest side of Moody Mtn and a temporary trail relocation around it. Iron rungs in rock slabs help make the steep ups and downs relatively straightforward.
About 5:30 for the hike, including 15 minute stay at Hall Mtn Leanto.
Stayed with Honey and Bear at The Cabin in East Andover - great accommodations and trail shuttle!!
