Hello:
I am flying out from Michigan this weekend and was wondering if anybody could give me an idea of where I could find some good Winter backcountry camping in the Whites.
I did the Pemi loop last fall and loved it but am now looking for something a bit less strenuous. I want to hike 2-3 miles in, to a place where I can spend the day and night relaxing in the snow. However, I don't really want to stay at a shelter or a tent-site.
Can anybody out there suggest a general area, anywhere in the Whites, where backcountry camping is permitted and I could find a true Winter Whites experience?
I'd really appreciate any suggestions. And as a Michigander, I promise only to visit the spot once!
