Kind of like the kids from the M.A.T.C. in Maine,who do a great job on the a.t. Sound like a positive move for that area.

I've enjoyed talking with the young stewards on Algonquin and Marcy. Can only be a good thing for helping to protect the alpine and heavy use areas.

On Marcy and Algonquin and Cascade and sometimes on Colden, Wright, Skylight, etc. hose are "Summit Stewards", a program which was started in 1990: http://www.adk.org/trails/Summit_Steward.aspx

Acouple of years ago I was at the ADK Loj and had dinner with a new stewards parents who had drove himup & helped with things. The following week I was back up and saw their son, it was a neat conversation.
