Saturday May 2, 2009:
Trail Conditions: Baldface Circle Trail, south section from trailhead to South Baldface, clear and dry to shelter, slabs mostly dry, a couple very short snow patches just below the South Baldface summit. South Baldface to North Baldface, short sections of soft snow with some unavoidable post holing, mostly not more than calf deep. North Baldface to Bicknell Ridge Trail, soft snow in the trees. Bicknell Ridge Trail, dry and snow free. Stream crossings not difficult.
Special Equipment Required: Waterproof boots and gaitors. Snowshoes not helpful, traction not necessary.
Comments: Optional - I fell into a waist deep hole on the snowfield just below North Baldface. Otherwise, although there's still some snow on the upper sections of the loop, it's great hiking conditions.
