With the closures in the High Peaks and the Green Mtns of Vermont I headed to these two lesser peaks in the central ADK's.
Balm Of Gilead Mtn. (Siamese Ponds Wilderness):
Saw some fallen trees hanging low on Old Farm Clearing RD, so I parked in the snowplow turnaround, good thing because the road was washed out severely before the trailhead, crossed the stream on a log and proceeded to the TH (only about .2 miles further). Trail was incredibly wet, running stream in places, although mud was not too bad. There was a decent amount of blowdown, but passable. Views were decent from the rainy summit. Special equipment: WATERPROOF boots/gaiters.
Sawyer Mtn. (Blue Ridge Wilderness):
Trail was very wet with some running water in places, some muddy areas. Blowdown was not too bad, only a couple of spots. Nice views from summit. Special equipment: WATERPROOF boots/gaiters.
