Our trip to Baxter Park was a short one! We were supposed to be up there from Thursday, August 12 to Monday, August 16. Drove up Thursday, arriving around 5 p.m. , set up our tents at Nesowdnehunk group site, had dinner, took a walk, watched a great horned owl up in the trees by the stream. Rain started in the night and came down in torrents with lots of wind. Bad in the morning. The group, upon hearing the weather forecast, which was rainy everyday, decided to break camp and leave!! Bummer! Trails were washed out, as well as the Perimeter Road was flooded. We had to go out through the northern entrance at Matagamon Gate. Rained on and off all the way home. A long trip to make from the Boston area for dinner and breakfast! Better luck next time!!
