I found myself in Acadia today for the annual work Lobster-Que and thought I'd do some hiking despite the rain. I picked out Beech Mountain and Beech Cliffs because I had never been there before. The hike up both was very, very, very short, 10 minutes or so. I was figuring these were longer hikes, so it took me by surprise. The view was limited today due to the low cloud level and rain, but on a clear day I bet you could see for miles. There's a fire tower on top of Beech Mountain.
No gate fee for this hike, a savings of 25 bucks. No bugs. No blowdowns.
