Launched from Henry Hudson in Bethlehem, NY and paddled south towards New Baltimore and the end of Haughtelin Island. My intent was to connect up with Mill Creek outlet east of the hudson which is where I last ended on my journey to section paddle the Hudson. What a trip down, I expected to take about 2.5 hours for the 8 mile paddle as figured I'd take it easy today after a 26 mile paddle on friday and some good trailwork on saturday. But with the ebb tide and the current and a good stiff north/nw wind today, I was booking down, got to New Baltimore launch in like 1.5 hours to see a group of canoers and kayakers heading north. Nice to see others out on a nice humidity less day. Not as humid as friday or saturday and definitely a good sunscreen day. I was cruising, getting a nice tailwind and some nice surfing in around Coeyman's marina. Be careful all ye paddlers of the underwater jettys in the area, at low tide they are above water and easily avoided but at mid-high to high tide, they are underwater and are SOMETIMEs marked with a white can buoy with danger markings on it. I;ve found some though that aren't marked on the water but are marked on the bluecharts.

Found some more cement factories, complete with humongous sized barges and tankers, as well as the usual assortment of brick saturated beaches..

You'd think that the brick factories would want to sell their bricks and not line the entire coastline!!! Maybe that is why there are no more factories! :D

Anyway, the return trip was of course a lot harder than the trip down, I tried to stay in the shallow waters to try to ride some eddys but the fetch was coming right down the narrow channel here so it was impossible to avoid the waves and current, but I made it back towards the bridge in time to see that huge tanker about to go under the bridge so I ducked into a protected cove and took some pictures of it going by... back to LaFarge apparently, the same ship I saw docked on my trip down anyway.

Nice day, and this was the first day of my 4 day weekend where I didn't see a bald Eagle!! Saw one yesterday right on Big Hollow Road on the way to the trailhead, huge, it could of taken my subaru and lifted it away...
