9:00 start at the Seager Trail Head with Snickers, Mike, and Paula. It was supposed to rain and snow today but it never did. It was partly cloudy at worst.
I donned my new Winter boots and off we went down the old road. There were a few interesting rock formations along the way:
The Dry Brook was beautiful as always:
On we went past the turn off for Doubletop, being careful to avoid the bears!
We passed the leanto:
and then started a long steep climb. Eventually we came to the Pine Hill West Branch Trail. Here the signs informed us that we had 1.5 to go to Big Indian and 1.1 to Eagle. We turned right and made our way up to Big Indian. Up here, the snow was covering everything:
When we got to the start of the herd path, we put on rain jackets to ward off the snow. At the summit:
we saw a huge dragon:
After lunch, we headed back down and made our way over to Eagle.
No views at either summit to speak of, but there are nice little vistas all along the trails with the leaves down. We finished the 12 mile trek in about 7 hours, and headed off to Brio's to have a nice hot meal, and a few cold beers!
