Big Slide: Mostly dry until after the rocky parts. The last forested part was about 1/3 muddy, some parts not too bad, others a bit more deep, with running water (some ice still melting higher up in the woods). Not too bad overall, certainly not the boot sucking, moral busting mudfests that can occur on Marcy or near the top of Gothics.
Cascade: approx. 40% muddy, but since the trail has lots of rocks, in most places it's possible to rock hop to avoid the mud.
Bug report: NONE!!
Weather: superb.
We did these peaks at the suggestion written on the DEC website, so I imagine the mud would be worse elsewhere.
