Date of Hike: 8/11/and 8/12
Trail Conditions: Please enter, some mud as one would expect in the Adirondacks but not too bad. Cool temps for mid-August. Water crossings manageable. Alternate trail to JBL, Southside Trail was damaged in Irene and has been abandoned. Southside used to follow along John's Brook more
Special Equipment Required: wind wear and an extra layer was nice to have. Temps are expected to rebound this week some.
Comments: Optional - First time back to JBL, last time was 1995. On Monday afternoon, still had to wait 20 minutes for a spot in the Garden to open up. Nice view through the trees on Yard of Haystack. Appears this approach to Big Slide is not often used. Forgot how steep parts of the descent were on Big Slide, or I was just more spry 19+ years ago.
