Road to Garden snowy and slick. Couldn't drive all the way up until the snowplow cleared and sanded (good timing in A.M.). Rained all day until 3PM. Good firm snow on trail with remnants of snowshoe "postholes" much of the way up. Slick on the Brothers. Wore snowshoes all the way up, down, and out (crampons got a free ride). Ladders just below Big Slide summit exposed and missing a few rungs - watch out for long 4" spikes protruding in their place (be very careful if glissading!). Descended to Phelps trail (Northside) near JBL. Six rushing stream crossings on that descent. Wet feet. Winter hiking in Spring conditions. Northside trail wet, but what snow remained was in very good condition for hiking on top of it.
