Took a long route for a bushwhack to Birch Hill. Began my trek at the Sawyer River Road trailhead, paid a brief visit to Sawyer Pond along the way, and then continued south on the Sawyer Pond Trail for nearly 2 miles before heading off-trail for the short & easy whack up to the ledges on Birch Hill.
Other than a few minor blowdowns & some segments needing brushed, the portion of the Sawyer Pond Trail that I traveled was generally in good condition.
Birch Hill provides some good views. A few photos from this trek are located HERE.
