Date: Dec. 29, 2011
Trail: Starting temperatures 15 degrees and not much change throughout the day. Slight dusting of snow on ground at start with a bit more coverage as we gained elevation. Interesting ice formations are starting. Passed some hikers attempting to bareboot - they didn't bring any traction - would have made a great commercial for Microspikes or AFV. Later met some hikers wearing full crampons. A bit overkill - great on the ice but slow walking over the gravel and rocks. Microspikes rule the day!
