Bond... Mt. Bond

I had been putting these three off for a while because the round trip distance made me wonder if I could get done before dark. It turned out to be alot easier and take a lot less time than I expected. I started at Lincoln Woods at about 7:25 am and got back at about 7:15 pm. Including at least an hour or so on the summits admiring the view and taking pictures. I think I found my new favorite place. I had a hard time getting up and leaving Bondcliff the second time.

The weather was perfect. Mostly sunny and breezy. By the time I returned to Bond from West Bond, the clouds had lifted off the Presidentials.

There were a couple of blowdowns on the Wilderness trail and some muddy spots on the lower part of the Bondcliff trail, but other than that the trails were in near perfect condition.

Was the view noticeably better on the way in than the way out or pretty much the same? I working on a backpacking trip and the most convenient way to take the trail is south but I'm afraid the hike north would be much nicer.

I'd say mostly the view is the same. Although there is more of a view going down from Bond to Bondcliff than there is the other way around. Between Bond and West Bond there isn't much to look at and it's similar each way. I didn't make it to Guyot so I don't know what that's like. I have also gone as far as the Zealand summit when coming from the north. There are nice views from Zeacliff but that's about it.

Coming from the north there is about a 2 or 2.5 mile flat part from the parking lot to just before the hut, assuming you're coming from Zealand Rd.

Coming from the south there is 6-7 miles of flatness along the Lincoln Woods and Wilderness trail. Not very exciting unless you count swatting mosquitos as excitement. Until you get to almost the top of Bondcliff there are only sporadic views thru the trees. But once you get to the top, all that walking is well worth it.
