Date of Hike: August 5

Trail Conditions: All of the trails (Lincoln Woods, Wilderness, Bondcliff, Twinway, Garfield Ridge, and Franconia Brook) were wet and muddy, requiring frequent dancing and balancing to avoid the mud. The Franconia Brook Trail was extremely wet and muddy and even flooded in places. Twin Brook, Redrock Brook, and Hellgate Brook were raging. Crossing each seemed hazardous and resulted in thoroughly soaked shoes and socks. It was an unwelcome adventure after 20+ miles.

Special Equipment Required: Sturdy sticks or poles for the stream crossings on the Franconia Brook Trail. Consider bringing an extra pair of shoes/socks for the crossings.

Comments: My plan was to hike the entire Pemi-Loop in one day, but I bailed on Mt. Garfield because it was already 3:30, very cloudy, and raining intermittently. I still hiked 29 miles and 6100 vertical feet. I'll be back . . .
