Trail: Lincoln Woods/Wilderness Trail/ Bondcliff
Eqipment: Snowshoes
Comments: Lincoln Woods and Wilderness were broken out well - they had a thin icy crust, so we used either snowshoes or micro-spikes into Bondcliff. Bondcliff trail at first looked promising, like it had been broken out recently, but after less than 1/2 mile, the hard, packed trail ended. From then to the summit, it was slow going, breaking through first crust into anywhere from 6-12" of snow, and then easily a foot of heavy wet snow in the upper elevations. Low branches obstructing the upper section of trail were a problem, and eye protection should be worn. Stream crossings were fine. So as of yesterday, this trail is now well broken out - hope others can enjoy our hard work.
A difficult and long hike, but the summit did reward us with beautiful views and a sunny, wind-free lunch spot.
