Route Taken: Zealand Trailhead > Hut > Zealand Mtn > Guyot > W. Bond > Bond > Bondcliff > Lincoln Woods
Conditions: Trail is 99.765% snow free. There were two patches along the route, but each was only 10 feet long. Absolutely no traction is required. Mud wasn't a problem at any point along the trail. No stream crossing issues anywhere either.
Report: We have no idea how, but there were no bugs on the entire trip except for at the two trailheads. Very odd for this time of the year, but I guess it was a bit windy.
The caretaker informed us that there were 47 people camped at Guyot on Saturday night and we saw probably 30+ on Sunday night. We really didn't like how people were being forced to camp beside each other on the platforms when there are several overflow campsites already established nearby. You get zero privacy when they do this, despite being about as far from a road as you can in the Whites. So, instead we pushed across Bondcliff and then found a campsite off-trail near the Wilderness Trail/Bondcliff Trail junction. We highly recommend that you stay away from Guyot on holiday weekends. The record (per the caretaker) was 74 people on Labor Day a few years ago.
Winds were borderline dangerous on the approach to Bondcliff when we crossed at 7pm on Saturday. Gusts were 60mph+ and two of us got knocked over. Probably won't cross that portion of trail in such bad conditions again.
First time over the Bonds for three of us and my 2nd time. Amazing views and fun time had by all.
