The trail was clear of snow and ice to the summit, but there is still some cleanup to be done from this springs ice storm. There is some areas of mud and some stream crossings so waterproof boots might help if you like dry feet. If you hike in from Shelving Rock Rd. don't forget to go past the summit to the southern overlook. Also Shelving Rock falls is just down the road from the trailhead so don't miss that. I heard a report of early blackflies, well unfortunately that is true, use plenty of bug juice on this one.
