Trail: Loop going counter-clockwise.
Conditions: Black flies not back, a little mud but the trails were mostly dry.
Comments: Lot of people enjoying this short loop. We saw lady slippers along the way, including some white ones. Many of them were going by, but some were coming in. Our group included two birders so we had a good time learning about what we were hearing, including a hermit thrush and black and white warblers, which we were able to catch a glimpse of. Some juncos were pretty angry when I was trying to get a photo of some lady slippers, but then we saw the reason why - one of their young was on the ground not far from where I was standing. It was absolutely still with its wings spread out. We left, and my pictures didn't come out well. On this day, we didn't go on to Stone Mountain, but wish we had.
