Cabot via Bunnell Notch and Kilkenny Ridge Trails
12/10/2007
Trail Conditions: 4-6 inches fresh powder over well packed trail below Kilkenny Ridge trail. From the trail to the cabin, 6-8 inches cabin to the summit as much as 12 inches.
Special Equipment Required: Poles - Very Useful, Snowshoes - Very Useful, Crampons - Not Needed
Comments: Started around 7am with snow coming down and about 12 degrees outside. Used snowshoes the entire way up and down. By 10am the snow had stopped and blue skies were starting to appear. Got to the cabin and had some snacks then went up to the summit. Nice views from clearing just past the cabin, summit is wooded. Ended up being quite a workout with the snowshoes and breaking trail through fresh snow.
