tr. conditions:slight ice down low, lots of slush and some ice till the ridge, which was all slush with some bare rock.If trail gets rain or refreezes it could be very dicey, maybe crampons needed.Saw one couple using micros without really postholing due to total meltdown of snow levels up north right now.Trail is not in great shape.
equipment: snowshoes almost all the way, save the start which really needed micros.
comments:decided on a gimmee for last hike of winter.Met one guy almost at ridge line with only sneakers,t shirt and shorts[no water or nothing!],dude was sinking to his waist with massive gashes on his legs.I told him there was a bar up top but he said he had no time?Had chili and a 6 dollar heini up top, nice kids working the bar/caf. Fixed up my pack outside on sundeck with 6 ski patrol people who looked at my snow shoes and did not say a word, their indifference was odd considering how I grew up skiing there,oh well![for record they did have bad weekend;post trip note] Had a couple of spills going down but survived.Nice to hike in Vt., Maine and N.H. in 8 day stretch. Thanks to Maria Tapia for use of her auto.
