Comments: I was hoping by the time I started up Cannon, someone would have broken it out. No dice!!! I only lost the trail once below the glade ski area/hiking trail convergence. Trailbreaking was tiring. Then, in the glade area, crampons may have been a better choice. Although it was fun watching the snowboarders/skiers, the trail was very tough to hike in that area. One step forward, and 2 steps back. Some areas were ice, some deep drifts - lots of falling forward. Finally, just after hitting the hiking trail left turn, around 3500', I was surprised how deep the snow was - maybe 10-12" and totally untracked. I knew I just didn't have any energy left after fighting the glade drifts and turned back.
