Trail had a dusting of snow throughout. Middle section, from the beginning of the "glades" to a bit below the outlook, had lots of hard ice, making for tedious going. From outlook side path to summit had mainly an inch or less of snow and generally better going but with the usual muddy stretches, not yet frozen. Only a couple of minor blowdowns.
We wore Microspike ST's most of the day and travel in the icy sections would have been difficult without traction. Poles always good in those conditions.
Better day than expected, with some views and less wind than predicted. Great to run into Ed, Becca, Helen and the gentleman whose name I have zoned, sorry. A really fun hike that helped rationalize next-day gluttony.
