Date of Hike: Thur. Dec. 9, 2010
Trails: Kinsman Ridge Trail from the Tram lot.
There was about 8 to 12 inches of unbroken powder all the way to the summit with drifts, knee to thigh deep, on the ridge after the view point and ascending the cone.
The snow has covered everything but it's not packed, so one has to be careful where they place their feet. Lots of rocks and hidden holes. A few blow downs.
I wore snowshoes to the top and after the view on the way back, changed to crampons. Hard walking in the crampons with the rocks. Probably, the snowshoes would have been better descending as well. A few blow downs.
Tough going today for such a short hike. No one else on the trail to help out. No wind on my side of the mountain. Temps about 10 degrees.
