Trail conditions: Up Hi Cannon which surely is the poorest marked trail in the Whites! It was wet, rooty and muddy with several downed trees (goesunders!). Down Kinsman Ridge to Lonesome Lake. Kinsman ridge was just wet and steep! Lonesome Lake trail had lots of muddy areas all the way.
Equipment needed: Rain gear and poles. Bugs not bad.
Comments: Sun was out when we started out but, as forecast, before 10am the rain started. Not too heavy but enough to wet us thoroughly by the time we got to the top. The trail is a little grown in at spots so the trees dripped on us too. Clouds passing by as we took in some views from the top, not the usual glorious view you get on a fine day! As I get older the Kinsman Ridge down to Lonesome Lake gets a little steeper and harder but it was the better choice for the return trip. A good day out with son of grumpygran and Laura...now into the single numbers.
