A few shots from a fine post-hurricane hike on Saturday in the Evans Notch region of the WMNF. I drove through a band of rain en route to the trailhead, just as the forecast indicated. After that it was sunny to partly cloudy skies all day. A bit muggy.

A beautiful day to be out and about in this place we call New England.

That is a wild, eclectic, and excellent mix of photos. I loved the Alice in Wonderland views of mushrooms. Perhaps we can guess which ones Earl ate as he passed by.

Thank you!

Re. "eclectic" - from time to time it occurs to me that perhaps, someday, I will develop a photographic "style," and that all my photos will have a similar look and feel. Perhaps. Someday. I'm not holding my breath! =) Meanwhile. I just point the camera wherever it wants to be pointed... post process heavily... or not at all... or somewhere in between...

As I have remarked on a thread in the Nature Photos forum - I am using a new compact camera (Samsung TL500) and am having lots of fun with it. This was the first opportunity that I've had to take it on a hike. And when hiking in the picturesque Evans Notch area, sightseeing and taking photos en route to and from the trailhead is half the fun.

Lest I forget to talk about hiking - Caribou from route 113 is a really enjoyable loop, in an area of mostly hardwood growth. Hardwood = fall foliage... It should be a spectacular destination for a not-too-difficult day hike, in just a couple weeks' time. Wish I could go back!
