Carr Mountain via Three Ponds Trail and Carr Mountain Trail
Date of Hike: Sunday, November 2, 2008
Trail Conditions: Dry trail, ice, snow, wet trail, mud
Special Equipment Required: Pack light traction just in case
Comments:
This has been pretty well covered by 1HappyHiker's TR, but it's a few day's old
Three Ponds Trail to Carr Mountain Trail - Some muddy spots. No blowdowns.
Carr Mountain Trail to summit spur trail - Water crossing slightly tricky but doable. A few wet spots down low. Snow and ice on trail starts much higher, moderately probably around 3,000' or so as mentioned by 1HappyHiker. One particularly annoying portion just before the spur trail junction - pooled water and mud with ice of varying strength. A few minor blowdowns remaining.
Spur trail to summit - icy.
I was able to do this barebootedly. Traction might be necessary if there's a thaw+freeze or some additional precip.
