Date of Hike: Sat., Jan 7, 2012

Trails: Sawyer River Rd, Bushwhack, Signal Ridge Trail

Conditions: The road walk was icy with a layer of snow on top. We whacked around the first crossing. The next crossing was running low with open water and easy to get across. Snow depths increased with elevation, most of the icy sections are down low. The ridge had some deeper pockets of snow, but with the traffic yesterday and today, it's well broken and packed. Several in our group switched to snowshoes on the ridge while the rest wore either micro spikes or Hillsounds all day. Warm temps and no wind made for an enjoyable hike. Great day out with Hiker Ed, J&J, Bill S., Steve R., Paul S, and Dee R. Nice talking with Kelly and Peter on the summit and sharing their chocolate with us.
