Trail Conditions: Snow. We thought we could bareboot up the road, but in minutes we all stopped to put on snowshoes in the soft and new fallen couple of inches of snow. We bypassed the first two stream crossings with a bushwhack, the third was navigated with care on rocks. There were a few blowdowns that didn't cause much trouble. Nearing the summit, the trail was covered with ice ball formations that must have melted off the firs and fallen onto the trail. It was like a little bit of frozen scree as we ascended.
Special Equipment Required: snowshoes from start to finish for everyone in our group of thirteen. Poles for the stream crossing(s). Warmer days are here. I was able to use my Camelback with no freezing issues.
Comments: Great day. With two large groups out there, I counted 36 hikers yesterday. No very bad postholes noted in trail. (a few to the sides)
