Date of Hike: 2010.01.10
Trail Conditions:
Nineteen Mile Brook was hard packed all the way to Carter Dome junction and likely all the way to the hut.
Carter Dome Trail very well packed to Zeta Path. Broken but a little rough from Zeta Pass to Carter-Moriah.
Carter Moriah to summit was in good shape. It had a litle drifting but nothing serious.
Special Equipment Required:
I wore snowshoes from start to finish but it could be barebooted all the way to Zeta Pass and likely to Carter-Moriah. Snowshoes very useful for upper part of Carter Dome Trail and Carter Moriah to summit.
Carter-Moriah was not broken out to Mt. Hight. It looked like a serious trailbreaking job even though it's a relatively short hike.
Comments: Beautiful day- very cold but virtually no wind. Only ran into one other peak bagger all day- a solo hiker doing South and Middle Carter. Saw no one from the parking lot to the summit and all the way back to Zeta Pass. What a great day to be out in the Whites!
