We hiked up on the Imp trail on Saturday, hard packed and smooth going to the view ledge. It was spectacular looking over at the range, blue skies and bright sun made for an amazing view. Pictures came out great!!
From there up to Middle Carter was un-broken and we were glad those snowshoes were on our backs!! Not much sinking in and perfect weather, interesting hard snow blown ridges on the trail. Snow on trees made for some interesting pictures. Plenty of wind on the exposed section near the top, but nice back in the trees which were hanging low over the trail and very snow packed, hoods were good...
Once we made it to South Carter, trail was pretty beat down with half of the people had used snowshoes and a few without making those post holes a pain going down to Nineteen mile brook trail. Kept the snowshoes on for stability over the very uneven ground in the narrow path. Nice walk out to the road for the loop.
One of my favorite hikes with the fresh snow untracked and beauty of the day. Very nice trail with views on the Imp trail.
